About
The book
As a native Luxembourger and a passionate food lover, food means much more to me than simply eating – it is part of our culture, our identity, and something that brings people together. Luxembourgish cuisine lies at the heart of my passion for cooking. It combines traditions passed down through generations with influences from our neighboring countries France, Germany, and Belgium.
With this cookbook, I want not only to introduce the traditional dishes of Luxembourg, but also to show the kind of food that is truly part of everyday life here. Luxembourgish cuisine is diverse and full of comforting, down-to-earth dishes. Alongside timeless classics such as Judd mat Gaardebounen and Bouneschlupp, this book also includes the everyday meals Luxembourgers love – from simple savory dishes to hearty meals enjoyed during Sunday lunch with family.
Luxembourgish cuisine combines a love for regional ingredients with a passion for the art of cooking. It offers great variety while bringing back warm memories. This cookbook is meant to inspire readers to explore the world of Luxembourgish cuisine, discover new flavors, and share the joy of eating together – because in Luxembourg, good food also means a sense of home and community.

About the author
I’m Joel, a journalist and independent cookbook author. I hold a Master’s degree in Media Studies. My passion for cooking began during the pandemic, when I started teaching myself cooking techniques and recreating recipes from around the world. I’m fascinated by different cultures and have set myself the goal of trying dishes from every country in the world.
Despite my curiosity for international cuisines, I eventually realized that, as a Luxembourger, I had barely explored my own culinary heritage. While working on a media project as part of my Master’s degree, I therefore decided to focus on traditional Luxembourgish cuisine. This idea eventually became my cookbook.
The book features 46 Luxembourgish recipes that I personally cooked and photographed. It is written in Luxembourg’s three official languages – Luxembourgish, German, and French. As far as I know, no trilingual Luxembourgish cookbook like this had existed before.
It is important to me to cook as much as possible myself and to rediscover regional cuisine. My goal is to give people, regardless of their background or cooking experience, an authentic introduction to Luxembourgish food culture. Because good food brings people together — and it all starts in your own kitchen.
